The sessions and round tables of the Forum are attended by Russian and foreign Mayors, experts, representatives of health care and healthy food from different countries. The Forum will become a platform for the exchange of knowledge, modern approaches, and best practices. Welcoming the participants of the event at the official opening the Mayor of Kazan Mr. Ilsur Metshin said that "such platforms play a unifying role for cities and contribute to the search for effective solutions".

About a thousand experts take part in the Forum, many of whom will join the discussions online. "The COVID-19 pandemic has made adjustments in our lives, but we have learned to overcome distances with the help of new technologies. The large number of Forum participants once again emphasizes that the topic for discussion is important and necessary" said Mr. Ilsur Metshin.
Thanks to the Forum, everyone has a unique opportunity to listen to Mayors and representatives of associations of municipalities, heads of public organizations, health sector and food policy experts from around the world.

"As president of the United Nations Advisory Committee of Local Authorities (UNACLA), I am convinced that such platforms for discussing important issues at the local level play a unifying role for cities. The health and quality of life of citizens is at the center of national development goals and strategic objectives in many countries of the world" emphasized the Mayor of Kazan.

The Forum program includes not only the theoretical part, but also the exchange of best practices on one of the most important themes for people - proper nutrition, which has a huge impact on human health. Mr. Ilsur Metshin mentioned a research by the World Health Organization that confirms that the nutritional factor affects health even more than bad habits and ecology.
A Food Festival that was held as a part of the Forum demonstrated to residents and guests of the city forms of leisure for a healthy lifestyle. The main idea was to show everyone in practice that healthy nutrition is not only useful, but also very tasty. This year Kazan municipal program "Healthy Nutrition for Children" celebrates its 15-year anniversary. Healthy nutrition and child health is one of the most important priorities for the city of Kazan.
Today's event was the first Eurasian forum of the Milan Pact - a significant innovative urban strategy for nutrition in Europe. The Milan Pact already unites more than 215 cities from around the world, including two Russian ones - Moscow and Kazan, in search of solutions to food security and nutrition. In the Kazan City Hall, as part of the forum, the Milan Pact will be signed by the heads of cities such as Cheboksary, Nizhny Novgorod and Samara.
